Battery Replacement & Electrical Service

Modern Audi and VW batteries require ECU coding and registration -- not just a simple swap. We handle the complete process so your car's charging system works the way it should. One mile from Manchester on Route 101.

What's Included

More Than Just a Battery Swap

On modern Audi and VW vehicles, replacing the battery is only half the job. The new battery has to be registered with the ECU so the car's Battery Management System adjusts its charging profile. Without this step, the car doesn't know a new battery was installed and will continue charging as if the old one is still there. Dealers charge separately for the coding. At Reflex, it's included.

OEM or Equivalent Battery

The correct group size, cold cranking amps, and AGM specification for your vehicle -- not a generic fit from the parts store shelf.

ECU Battery Registration & Coding

We register the new battery with the vehicle's control module so the charging system adapts to the fresh battery's capacity and chemistry.

Digital Vehicle Inspection

A full digital inspection with photos and notes -- tires, brakes, fluids, belts -- included with every service visit.

Free Loaner Car

Important
Why Battery Registration Matters

Your Audi or VW uses a Battery Management System (BMS) that controls how the alternator charges the battery. When you install a new battery without registering it, the car still thinks the old, degraded battery is installed. It will overcharge the new battery to compensate -- shortening its lifespan significantly. Registration resets the BMS so the charging profile matches the new battery's actual condition.

Every battery replacement is backed by our 3-year/36,000-mile warranty -- three times the coverage of the typical dealer warranty.

The electronic system they have for car reports is fantastic and very informative. It lets you know exactly what's going on with your car and what needs to be fixed sooner rather than later. I was interested in buying a Golf R from a dealership that said the car had been serviced at Reflex Tuning. I reached out to the shop to ask about the vehicle, and Heather knew exactly what car I was talking about and told me that it was a solid vehicle and had been well-loved by the previous owner. I ended up buying the car and will only bring it to Reflex. It did need a few things, which they took care of quickly, and reassured me that there were problems with the car and not that I had completely forgotten how to drive a manual vehicle. They're super honest with things, efficient, and communicative. The electronic system they have for car reports is fantastic and very informative. I'm so glad that I found my Golf, and even more so that Reflex is around to take care of it. Highly recommended!!!

FAQ

Battery Replacement Questions, Answered

Common signs include slow engine cranking, dimming headlights, a battery warning light on the dashboard, and needing to jump-start the car. If your battery is over 4-5 years old and you're experiencing any of these symptoms, it's likely time for a replacement. We test the battery as part of every digital vehicle inspection, so if you're not sure, schedule a visit and we'll check it.
Modern Audi and VW vehicles use a Battery Management System (BMS) that controls how the alternator charges the battery. When a new battery is installed, the BMS needs to be told so it resets the charging profile. Without coding, the system still thinks the old degraded battery is installed and will overcharge the new one -- significantly shortening its life. This is part of why we include ECU registration with every battery replacement.
You can swap the physical battery, but without ECU registration your car's Battery Management System won't know a new battery was installed. It will continue compensating for the old battery's degraded state, overcharging the new one and cutting its lifespan. The coding requires manufacturer-level diagnostic tools that parts stores don't have. Our 3-year/36,000-mile warranty also covers the battery and the work -- something a DIY install can't match.
Typically 4 to 6 years, though New England winters are especially hard on batteries. Cold temperatures reduce a battery's cranking capacity, and short trips in winter don't give the alternator enough time to fully recharge it. If your battery is approaching 5 years old, it's worth having it tested before the next cold season. We check battery health during every scheduled maintenance visit.
