VW Service in New Hampshire

You Don’t Have to Use the VW Dealer — Even Under Warranty.

Federal law — the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act — protects your right to service your Volkswagen at any qualified independent shop without voiding your factory warranty. The dealer cannot require you to use their service department. What matters is that the work is done correctly, with the right parts, and documented properly. I needed to take my car to a dealer for a recall...the service advisor came outside to talk to me about...where do I take it to have it serviced...she said that my car, with 120000 miles on it was mechanically like a new car. While I was in the process of relocating to New Hampshire, I drove by Reflex Tuning and noticing they service VW and Audi vehicles, I stopped to talk to the owner about possibly having our VWs serviced there. After I returned to the house we were selling in Connecticut, I asked a local automotive parts supplier who is a VW and Audi enthusiast if he had heard of Reflex Tuning in New Hampshire. His response was "they are the best place to have your VW or Audi serviced". We have our three VWs serviced at Reflex and consider it the best decision we have made concerning he maintenance of vehicles. Heather and her crew provide the best service and are always on top of any issue that may be an issue in the future. I took my car in for a regular service plus new wipers and a tire rotation and balancing. I received an email with pictures showing some oil leaking caused by a failed component plus pictures of everything else they checked. The failed part was in stock so I had it replaced and my car was ready the same day. Always a pleasure to do business with the team at Reflex Tuning. When I went to pick my car up the service advisor came outside to talk to me about my car, specifically, where do I take it to have it serviced. I told her that my car is serviced at Reflex Tuning. She was interested because she said that my car, with 120000 miles on it was mechanically like a new car. Reflex Tuning has been servicing my car for most of the miles that are on it. My most recent visit, a couple of months after the recall, The crew at Reflex found some issues that need to be addressed in the future. They sent me pictures of everything they found and made recommendations as which issue to resolve first. Thanks to Heather and her crew for their great work and care for their customers.

VW Service Questions

No. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act — a federal law — protects your right to use any qualified independent shop for maintenance and repairs without voiding your factory warranty. The dealer cannot require you to use their service department as a condition of your warranty. What matters is that work is performed correctly, with appropriate parts, and documented. We use OEM parts, the same diagnostic software as the dealer, and document every service. Learn more on our keep your warranty page.
Yes — and sooner than most owners realize. Volkswagen calls DSG fluid a “lifetime fill,” but that’s a warranty strategy, not a maintenance recommendation. DSG fluid degrades over time and mileage. We regularly drain fluid from high-mileage DSG transmissions and the condition speaks for itself. We recommend DSG service every 40,000 miles. Neglecting it risks clutch pack wear, shudder, and eventually mechatronic failure — an expensive repair that a fluid change at the right interval would have prevented. Learn more on our transmission service page.
Volkswagen’s own owner’s manual states that standard intervals apply to normal conditions, and that severe conditions — including extreme temperatures and excessive dust — require more frequent service, particularly oil changes and air filter replacement. New Hampshire winters, road salt, and temperature swings qualify as severe by any measure. We recommend oil changes every 5,000 miles — that’s VW’s own guidance for our climate, not just ours.
Yes. We use OEM and OEM-equivalent parts that meet Volkswagen’s manufacturing specifications — the same parts the dealer uses, from the same manufacturers. For fluids, we use Castrol full-synthetic oil matched to your vehicle’s exact specification (VW 502 00, 504 00, or 507 00 depending on model and year). Using the correct specification isn’t optional — it directly affects long-term engine health.
The dealer’s standard repair warranty is 1 year / 12,000 miles. Ours is 3 years / 36,000 miles — three times the coverage on the same work with the same parts. That difference reflects our confidence in the quality of what we do. Full details at our warranty page.
Yes, intentionally. We’re a small shop and we keep the same team. Someone who has worked on your car before knows its history — what’s been done, what was flagged, what to watch. That continuity catches things a rotating staff misses. It’s one of the reasons our digital inspection reports are as detailed as they are — the tech already knows what they’re looking for.
